Maundy Thursday: Agape Feast 2 April 2, 2026 6:00p.m. Phelps Hall (please contact the office to reserve your spot)
There will be an Agape Meal 6:00p.m. An agape feast or lovefeast is a term used for various communal meals shared among Christians. The name comes from the Greek word ἀγάπη, which implies love in the sense or familial affection. Agape meals originated in the early Church and were a time of fellowship for believers. The Eucharist was a part of the lovefeast in the earliest times, although later the two became separate.
This night we revive this tradition and unite the two again. We will have one reading some thoughts by Fr. Ron and go right into eucharist at the table sharing the bread and wine. Stephanie Wheeler and Davis Martin will play music during communion. At the end of the meal we will process into the church for the installment of the consecrated elements in the altar of repose and stripping of the altar by the altar guild.
Vigil will be kept until midnight and a sign-up list will be available. Good Friday April 3, 2026 11a.m. to 1p.m. St. Peter’s Church We will resume the vigil in the back of the church on Friday with readings from the New Testament from 11a.m.-1:00p.m.
